Teacher

Emma Pooley - SInging teacherI have taught many students one-to-one, both adults and young people, beginners and accomplished singers. Working one-to-one with a teacher means that lessons are tailored entirely to your needs and interests. As a singer and teacher, I am aware of the value of thinking medium to long term for developing vocal ability.

I have also worked with professional and amateur groups, such as children’s and youth choirs, and community singing groups.  Making music in a group can be an excellent way of sharing your love of music with others and enjoying being part of a bigger musical experience.

Good singing takes
thought, emotion,
energy and enthusiasm

Learning music is an excellent way of engaging your creativity, intellect, body and emotions.  It can be fun too! Beginners, intermediate and advanced students may choose to work on:

If you really work on your singing and fully engage with all the different elements involved, you can understand the physical process of singing,  recognise and overcome any habits you have fallen into that inhibit your singing, and gradually build up a tool-box of techniques that will help you to address the many questions that all singers meet.

My teaching is complemented and enhanced by my work as a professional performer and all-round musician. Having worked as a soloist, choir member, choir director, and pianist (accompanying soloists and choirs) – I have extensive experience of the different processes involved in rehearsals and performances.  I know the environments in which singers thrive and those in which they merely survive; and I am able to work with singers, pianists and musical directors to help maximise singers’ performance potential.
